Ultrasonic Flow Measurements

Ultrasonic flow measurements are an incredibly useful way of gathering non-intrusive, accurate data when you’re unable to take conventional flow readings with a differential manometer, this is often an old or process system without provision or blocked commissioning devices. Neither of these are necessary for ultrasonic readings so they play an innovative and important role in readings.

Duct & Ventilation Cleaning

Fresh air in buildings is the key to safe, comfortable and efficient working conditions. An essential factor is that the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) ductwork systems are kept clean. All duct systems become fouled over a period of time. The rate and severity of contamination can be attributed to a number of factors; however, it is possible to deal with these issues through sensible hygiene maintenance.

The ventilation systems must be kept clean and healthy, but there are also economic benefits. The blockages or build-ups of dirt and airborne particles cause your ventilation systems to function at a reduced capacity. Subsequently, the systems then use more energy to operate, therefore burning more money to operate at a less-than-optimal capacity. It’s far more cost-effective in the long-run to keep your ventilation system clean and running efficiently.

We offer services and contracts to various sized businesses from small restaurants to large commercial premises. The ductwork cleaning will be carried out by our trained technicians with the minimum of disruption and using the latest hygiene methods, in accordance with industry standards. Comfort Services Group offer a range of services to help you ensure that your building remains healthy, safe, legal and compliant. Replacement of Hollow Supports

It has been found that the internal supports in cold water tanks can hold stagnant water that can allow biofilm and slime growth which can harbour micro-organisms such as Legionella and Pseudomonas. The use of uncapped PVC-U pipes (or similar) within cold water tanks as a support structure for the lid is likely to lead to stagnation and harbouring of harmful micro- organisms. The UK Department of Health Alert (EFA/2013/004) issued on 19th November 2013, has highlighted an issue with cold water storage tanks which indicates that hollow tank supports are no longer permitted in cold water storage tank installations. This is also supported by the new ACoP L8 legislation provided by the Health and Safety Executive.

Comfort Services Group can provide the hollow support replacement service and at the same time offer cleaning and disinfecting of the internal surfaces of the cold water storage tank, which will eliminate the risk of stagnation and contamination from Legionella bacteria.

Mains Water chlorination to BS8558

In order to safeguard water quality and public health, the water supply pipes have to be chlorinated and tested before a connection is allowed to the water main.

Comfort Services Group are a specialist water treatment & testing provider on the water supply networks that include Anglian Water, Thames Water, Affinity Water, Essex & Suffolk Water and other water boards should the need arise.

New mains chlorination is important in order to maintain quality of the mains drinking water supply. Water board companies, like above mentioned Anglian Water, will not allow the connection of new mains pipe onto their system until the new pipe work has been chlorinated effectively and a detailed and comprehensive chlorination certificate and microbiological analysis have been provided.

We can provide a full chlorination and pressure testing service for all new mains connections, whether the system is a large commercial building, or a smaller domestic pipework.

COSHH LEV Testing

Local Exhaust Ventilation Testing or LEV Testing is a requirement for all employers who are using air extraction systems that remove dust, fumes, vapours and other potentially harmful contaminants from the working environment. Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV), often called dust or fume extraction, can help clean the air, before people breathe in these harmful substances.

The continued widespread occurrence of occupational lung diseases in the UK has led to increasingly stringent guidelines and statutory requirements for Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV). LEV testing is now a legal requirement. In May 2008, Health and Safety Executive (HSE) published a new, comprehensive guide (HSG258) on LEV for designers, installers and examiners and detailed guidance for employers and their employees who depend on LEV to protect their health. Any employer that uses LEV techniques in the workplace must have equipment examined and tested at least “every 14 months” to ensure it is working effectively and safely.

Comfort Services can carry out detailed LEV/COSHH Testing and Commissioning on all types of LEV systems. We can provide cost-effective, competent dust extraction testing and fume extraction testing. All of our tests full comply with the COSHH Approved Code of Practise (ACoP) and HSE guidance HSG258. Please contact us today for more information and for your free, no obligation quote and a free copy of the HSG258 guidance.

Asbestos Risk Assessment

Before starting any work that is likely to disturb asbestos, a suitable and sufficient risk assessment must be prepared by the employer or person in charge of the premises. This means examining the potential risks to health and identifying which precautions are needed to make the work safe. Whoever carries out the risk assessment must have a sufficient level of knowledge, training and expertise. This is to make sure that they understand the risks from asbestos (and general risks) to enable them to make informed decisions about the risks and identify the appropriate action required to reduce them. They will also need to be able to estimate the expected level of exposure to help them decide whether or not the control limit is likely to be exceeded.

Working closely with the client’s legal ‘Dutyholder’, our Risk Assessor locates and assesses all accessible Asbestos containing materials in building fabric and plant equipment.

Contact Comfort Services Group Ltd today to find out how we can help you to identify any potential areas of concern, our quotes are free with no obligations.
