Duct & Ventilation Cleaning
Duct & Ventilation Cleaning
Fresh air in buildings is the key to safe, comfortable and efficient working conditions. An essential factor is that the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) ductwork systems are kept clean. All duct systems become fouled over a period of time. The rate and severity of contamination can be attributed to a number of factors; however, it is possible to deal with these issues through sensible hygiene maintenance.
The ventilation systems must be kept clean and healthy, but there are also economic benefits. The blockages or build-ups of dirt and airborne particles cause your ventilation systems to function at a reduced capacity. Subsequently, the systems then use more energy to operate, therefore burning more money to operate at a less-than-optimal capacity. It’s far more cost-effective in the long-run to keep your ventilation system clean and running efficiently.
It should be understood that neglected ductwork systems have been linked with health related problems such as Legionella Pneumophila detailed in ACoP L8, sick building syndrome detailed in HSG132 and toxic mould identified as the cause of numerous deaths throughout the Americas. Dust and debris found in uncleaned ductwork, together with temperature and humidity levels, have been linked to the growth and spread of MRSA and other micro-organisms in hospitals. It is similar to how flu and other common cold infections spread through poorly maintained workplace systems. Loss of life through fire is also a severe consequence of neglected maintenance of ventilation systems.
The Legal Requirements
Under The Health, Safety & Welfare at Workplace Regulations, the building owners and managers have a legal obligation to ensure that enclosed workplaces are ventilated with fresh, purified air. If a mechanical system is provided, it is a legal requirement to keep these systems regularly cleaned, tested and maintained. We provide services to keep these systems operating effectively, preventing contamination and pollution which can occur if unchecked.
Comfort Services Group provide complete duct cleaning services in accordance with the requirements of TR/19, which is the leading guidance document issued by the B&ES Association; British Standard and European Norm BSEN:15780; and BG49/2013, BSRIA’s guide on Commissioning Air Systems. These sets of guidance now agree on the way to ensure appropriately clean ductwork at commissioning stage and also during service to ensure safer and healthier buildings and working environment.
We offer services and contracts to various sized businesses from small restaurants to large commercial premises. The ductwork cleaning will be carried out by our trained technicians with the minimum of disruption and using the latest hygiene methods, in accordance with industry standards.
